How to play gin rummy

Three steps. Thirty seconds to learn.

Draw & build

Draw a card and form runs (same color in sequence) and sets (same number, different colors).

Cut your deadwood

Discard your unmatched cards until your leftover count drops to ten or less.

Knock & score

Knock to end the hand and compare. The lower count takes the box; first to 100 wins the match — go gin or undercut for a bonus.

Just the card game

No coins. No casino. No catch.

No forced video ads

No videos between hands, no pop-ups breaking your game mid-round. Just the next deal.

No coins or chests

No coin economy, no rigged-feeling matchmaking. You win or lose on the cards, not on a wallet.

A calm table

A quiet green-felt table built to read clearly — comfortable for a quick hand or a long match to 100.

Questions

The quick stuff before you sit down.

Is it free to play?

Yes — completely free, with no account and no download. Just open it in your browser and play.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in any modern desktop or tablet browser — nothing to download or sign up for.

Is this real gin rummy?

Yes — standard two-player gin rummy rules: draw and discard, knock at ten deadwood or less, lay off, undercut, go gin, and play each match to 100. The only twist is four colors instead of four suits, to keep the cards easy to read.

What does it mean to knock?

Knocking ends the hand and reveals both players' melds. You can knock once your unmatched cards (deadwood) total ten or less — but wait too long and your opponent may knock first or go gin.

Can I play on my phone?

It's built for desktop and tablet play. Phone-sized screens are intentionally not supported because the cards and text need room to stay readable.

Do I need to know how to play?

No — a quick tutorial and on-screen hints get you going in under a minute. If you already know gin rummy, you'll feel at home immediately.

What a hand feels like

Draw, build, knock — the whole rhythm in three beats.

Draw

Take the top of the stock or the discard, then decide what to keep.

Build melds

Group runs of one color in sequence and sets of a matching number.

Knock

Once your deadwood is ten or less, knock to end the hand and score.
